Be weary of  “keyword stuffing.” The recommended amount of keyword density for a web page is between 3% and 5%.  Generally, it is not a good idea to go over this amount. If you are new to the concepts of Search engine optimization, and loading your pages with a heavy concentration of keywords seems harmless to you, pay attention. This can and will lead to your website pages losing significant rank status or possibly being rejected all together by the search engines.

The method that is used for figuring out how many times that you have used a keyword on your web page is not overly complicated. First, figure out how many words are in the content. If you are writing in code, do not include the HTML.  The easiest way to find this out is to use a text editor, or software like Microsoft Word that includes a word count feature.

Once you know how many words are on the page, select edit from the menu bar, then select find. From there select replace, Then simply enter your keyword in the find and replace box. At this point, choose the option of replace all. This feature leaves all of the words the same, but gives you an idea of how many times your keyword appears in the content of the website page.

After you have the number of times that the selected word appears, then divide it by the total number of written words. If your keyword appears 20 times and the total number of words is 400, this will give you a number of .05. Multiply this by 100, and your keyword density is 5%.

Following the keyword density rule will  get your website more exposure. You will find that by applying this strategy, your search engine rankings will be higher.  This will lead to an increased amount of income from the Internet in a shorter period of time.
